What is an ecosystem exactly, and what can we expect to find there? We will begin with a discussion about plants, what they need to survive, and how this helps inform a food web. We’ll create a basic food web and learn why stability is so critical by demonstrating what happens when a species is added or subtracted from the web, and what this means in the context of an ecosystem. Then, we’ll break into groups to create our own ecosystems, applying what we’ve learned to ensure they are healthy and stable.
