GSK Science in the Summer™
GSK Science in the Summer™ is a is a free science education program sponsored by GSK that helps elementary school children “grow into science.” GSK Science in the Summer™ partners with institutions like The Discovery Museum to bring hands-on science courses to students. Discovery Museum will present Science in the Summer to hundreds of young learners (entering grades 2-6 next fall) that attend summer camp at the Lakewood Trumbull YMCA and Camp Tepee. We are delighted to partner with the Lakewood YMCA!
GSK Science in the Summer™ launched in the Greater Philadelphia Area 30 years ago to engage kids in science at an early age. Since its inception, GSK Science in the Summer™ has reached more than 150,000 students in Philadelphia, North Carolina and Washington, D.C./Baltimore, and launched a national pilot program to reach even more students in 2015. The national program is sponsored by GSK, administered by The Franklin Institute, and hosted by leading museums and sciences centers across the country.
GSK Science in the Summer™ teaches elementary students the core principles of science and seeks to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning through fun, engaging activities. The program also works to equalize educational opportunities and mitigate the effects of summer learning loss.
